An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Audiology Department as a Senior Paediatric Audiologist.

You will join a friendly team consisting of an Audio vestibular Physician, a clinical scientist, 4 Paediatric Audiologists and two Assistant Audiologists.

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Service and Clinical scientist in the day to day running of the department with a daily clinical work load.

The job role involves working at an advanced level with excellent clinical competency specifically with paediatric patients. Line management of staff is required as part of this post.

The post incorporates a mix of clinical and managerial responsibilities. Primarily a clinical role, the post holder will be expected to lead senior audiology clinics across all ages of the paediatric population.

There is also an expectation to assist the Head of Service and Clinical scientist in complex clinics. In addition they will have responsibility for online ordering and stock, working closely with our Band 6 Audiologists and Assistant Audiology team.

Managerial responsibilities include HR management, absence and risk management. The post holder will also oversee the annual calibration of equipment.

The candidate will be a highly organised individual who is confident in dealing with a wide range of paediatric patients, including those with complex needs, social and communication problems and learning difficulties.

HOURS: This is a 37.5hr post with a set weekly working pattern. The post holder could work across 4 days, with a non-working day on a Thursday. Hours will be 8.00 until 6.00 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and 8.30 until 5.30 on Fridays with a 30-minute lunch. The candidate could also work 37.5 hours across 5 days. Some flexibility is possible with these hours which can be discussed at interview.

This position will be based in St Catherine's Health Centre. The post would involve travel to Arrowe Park Hospital and Victoria Central Hospital to meet the needs to the service.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
